April 4th, 2022 | GRLA Presents: A Global Vision for Luxury

On Monday April 4th, The Georgetown Retail & Luxury Association had the pleasure of hosting a Global Vision for Luxury panel with  LVMH speakers: Kenny Moore, VP of Marketing for Moët Hennessy USA, and Charly Nixon, VP of HR for Fendi USA.

During the event, students had the opportunity to learn more about LVMH and gain insight into the strategies that enable it to be the pinnacle of the luxury industry, as well as learn about the speakers’ careers at their respective maisons. Both Charly and Kenny spoke on how LVMH’s 75+ maisons are unified by a common thread of exceptional talent and shared values. LVMH honors the tradition of each maison while investing in unique brand innovation, making it a work environment that its employees are inspired by each day.

When asked about the effects of COVID-19 on business, both Kenny and Charly expressed the many positive changes it created, reflecting the agility of both Moët Hennessy and Fendi. For Moët Hennessy, home consumption of alcohol skyrocketed and people were more indulgent. Also, the shift to online ordering for alcohol has persisted since COVID and become a new normal.

Fendi’s strategy during COVID-19 enabled them to form deeper connections with their clients, who then became repeat clients despite their being less events and traditional occasions to “dress up” for. The desire to dream and finally make a long desired purchase was amplified by the personal connection that Fendi’s team made with customers during isolation.

Charly and Kenny also offered great advice for students. Charly’s parting wisdom was to be open to pivoting, not be too hard on yourself, and strive to make a plan for meeting your goals. Kenny stated the importance of embracing newness, persistence, and being thoughtful about who you surround yourself with.
